1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Solo Satoshi Web Flasher at flash.solosatoshi.com, operated by Solo Satoshi LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. It covers the flasher interface, firmware manifest, and firmware downloads provided through this service. Where applicable privacy law uses the term “controller,” Solo Satoshi is the controller of personal information for which it determines the purposes and means of processing.
The Solo Satoshi online store, customer accounts, purchases, support requests, and marketing services are governed by the separate Solo Satoshi store Privacy Policy.
2. Plain-language summary
- There is no flasher account or login.
- The flasher application does not set advertising or analytics cookies.
- The flasher application does not use localStorage or sessionStorage.
- Firmware is downloaded to your browser and written to the miner you select.
- USB communication stays between your browser and that locally connected device.
- Hosting and delivery providers process ordinary network information needed to deliver and protect the service.
3. Information processed when you visit
Like other internet services, the infrastructure that delivers the flasher receives technical request information. This can include your IP address, date and time of a request, requested file or URL, browser and device characteristics, operating system, referring page, approximate region derived from an IP address, and security or error information.
The flasher page is hosted using GitHub Pages. GitHub states that it logs the IP address of visitors to GitHub Pages for security purposes. Firmware manifests and firmware files are delivered through Cloudflare infrastructure. Cloudflare may process IP addresses, traffic-routing data, system configuration information, and other request metadata as described in its privacy policy.
Solo Satoshi does not use this flasher to create advertising profiles or track visitors across unrelated websites.
4. USB and miner data
The flasher uses the browser's Web Serial interface. Your browser displays a device chooser, and the flasher can communicate only with a serial device you expressly select. Browser and operating-system controls govern that permission.
The serial connection is used to identify the compatible ESP chip, place the device into its flashing mode, write the selected firmware, report local progress, and restart the device. Technical messages shown in the on-screen log remain in the current browser page memory and disappear when the page is closed or reloaded. The application does not send those messages to Solo Satoshi.
When you choose to preserve miner settings, the flasher skips the device's settings partition while writing the firmware. It does not read, copy, store, or transmit the Wi-Fi, pool, or other configuration data in that partition.
6. Service providers and outside links
We use service providers to operate and secure the flasher:
- GitHub: source-code hosting, automated builds, and GitHub Pages hosting. Review the GitHub Privacy Statement.
- Cloudflare: firmware-file storage and delivery, DNS, and related network security services. Review the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
The flasher also links to upstream open-source release pages on GitHub and to solosatoshi.com. Those destinations control their own data practices once you leave the flasher.
7. How technical information is used
Technical request information may be processed to deliver requested files, maintain service reliability, diagnose failures, prevent abuse, protect the service and its users, comply with legal obligations, and establish or defend legal claims. Where applicable law requires a legal basis, these activities are based on providing the service you requested, our legitimate interests in operating and securing it, and compliance with law.
Information may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse or security incidents, or complete a merger, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.
Solo Satoshi does not sell personal information collected through the flasher and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
8. Retention and international processing
The flasher application itself does not maintain a user database or retain USB-session information. GitHub and Cloudflare may retain infrastructure and security records according to their own policies, contracts, and legal obligations. Those providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate.
If you contact Solo Satoshi through the main website, information in that request is retained under the Solo Satoshi store Privacy Policy and applicable recordkeeping requirements.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have a right to appeal a decision or complain to a privacy regulator.
For United States state-privacy-law purposes, the categories potentially processed through ordinary web requests are identifiers, such as an IP address, and internet or other electronic network activity, such as request, browser, and device information. These categories come directly from your browser or network and are used for the operational and security purposes described above. The flasher does not knowingly process sensitive personal information, sell personal information, or share personal information for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising.
Because the flasher does not maintain user accounts or an application-level user database, Solo Satoshi may have little or no information that can be linked to you. We may need enough information to verify and respond to a request. Service providers handle requests concerning information they control under their own privacy procedures. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
10. Security
We use measures intended to reduce risk, including HTTPS, restrictive browser security policies, approved firmware sources, file-size checks, and SHA-256 verification before firmware is written. No internet service, browser API, storage system, or software process can be guaranteed completely secure.
Never provide Solo Satoshi with private keys, seed phrases, recovery phrases, wallet credentials, or mining-pool passwords. We do not need them to operate or support this flasher.
11. Children
The flasher is intended for users who can understand the technical and legal consequences of changing device firmware. It is not directed to children under 13, and Solo Satoshi does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the flasher.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the flasher, service providers, or applicable law. We will post the revised policy here and change the last-updated date. Material changes apply prospectively from the stated effective date.
